We’re proud to share that MyEdSpace has been awarded ESSA Level 4 accreditation.
What is ESSA accreditation?
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) is a US federal education framework that independently evaluates the effectiveness of educational technology.
Our accreditation confirms our approach to online teaching has been independently verified as evidence-based and grounded in research.
There are four levels of ESSA accreditation, which edtech companies can work through:
- Level 4 — demonstrates rationale
A research-based theory of change that explains how and why the product is expected to improve outcomes for students, supported by a commitment to ongoing research - Level 3 — promising evidence
Positive impact shown in a correlational study at a single site - Level 2 — moderate evidence
Positive impacts shown across multiple sites, using comparison groups - Level 1 — strong evidence
Positive impacts shown in randomised controlled trials across multiple sites

Achieving Level 4 is the first and foundational step in this framework. It begins with an independent body reviewing how we work, and confirming that our approach to education is underpinned by credible research and backed up with evidence.

Why ESSA accreditation matters
Parents and students choosing an online teaching platform deserve to know that the approach behind it actually works. Not just that teachers are highly-qualified and excellent at what they do — just as ours all are — but also that the way lessons are structured, the way students interact (both with the content, the teacher and each other), and the way learning is reinforced between classes is informed by what the research says about how people learn.
By gaining ESSA Level 4 accreditation, you have that peace of mind when you choose MyEdSpace.
The review examined the research behind how MyEdSpace delivers live, online lessons, how they’re supported by bespoke workbooks, practice questions, the live chat that buzzes with student engagement and participation during class.
The ESSA review also confirmed what exam results have shown each year: that affordable, high-quality online teaching, delivered by expert teachers and supported by structured resources, increases student motivation, builds confidence, and improves outcomes.
Working towards ESSA Level 3

Now we’ve completed all Level 4 requirements, we’re working towards Level 3, which requires positive impact to be demonstrated in a correlational study.
Our research roadmap, developed with ICEI, sets out a clear path to get there, including formal efficacy research that will measure the direct relationship between our teaching and our student’s outcomes, against national benchmarks.
We’ve always believed that every child deserves access to great teaching, regardless of where they live or their family’s financial situation. ESSA Level 4 accreditation is independent confirmation that what we are building — and how we are building it — is the right approach.
