MyEdSpace Chatbot Safety Protocol
Purpose and Scope
This page describes the safety measures that apply to MyEdSpace's AI-powered Study Aid feature, including how we detect and respond when a user may be in distress or at risk of harm. Under some state laws, the Study Aid may be considered an AI companion chatbot and may not be suitable for some minors. We recommend parental involvement for users under 18.
Study Aid Detection and Response
The Study Aid is designed to avoid generating content that encourages, instructs, or normalizes suicide, self-harm, or violence toward others. We have an automated content monitoring system that scans conversations for indicators that a student may be in distress or at risk of harm. When such an indicator is detected, the Study Aid will point the student to crisis resources, including:
- The Crisis Text Line (Text HOME to 741741)
- The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
- The Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline (1-800-422-4453)
Escalation
If a student continues to express suicidal ideation, self-harm, or related crisis indicators after receiving an initial referral, the Study Aid generates an alert to a trained team who will review the concern and escalate to the parent or guardian, child protective services, or law enforcement if needed.
